Game Review: The Walking Dead – A New Frontier – Episode Five

the_walking_dead_a_new_frontierHoly cow. There are no words I can really say to describe the finale of Telltale’s The Walking Dead: A New Frontier. It was a great episode that brought great moments for the season and delivered a solid ending open for more.

Like my previous reviews, I can only speak from my own playthrough and the path I chose for the characters. Note that there will be spoilers below so read at your own risk.

Show Review: Sense8 – Season 2

sense8-589ef38bd9ec0It’s hard to believe that it has been two years since the first season of The Wachowski’s sense8 first debuted on Netflix. I took a day just to recover from the amazing finale of its second season which was released last Friday.

sense8 celebrates the weird and wonderful things about us as human beings – even if our main protagonists are (in the show’s mythos) another species. The second season is a vast improvement from the first and expands on the science behind the sensates while retaining their individual storylines at the same time.

Fair warning that this might be quite a long review but I just have so much I want to talk about with this amazing series. So a spoiler alert is obviously required from this point onwards.

Film Review: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

guardians-galaxy-vol-2-new-logoThe latest instalment to the Marvel Cinematic Universe remains in space as we follow the Guardians of the Galaxy in another crazy adventure. The film is fun. Some flaws but a whole lot of fun. And that’s all you could really ask for with one of the lighter Marvel movies: fun.

Also, spoiler alert!

Game Review: The Walking Dead – A New Frontier – Episode Four

6gaflz21And so another episode has graced us players once again. The penultimate episode of Telltale’s Walking Dead: A New Frontier, “Thicker than Water, had everything that was expected of a Telltale game. There were small improvements with the gameplay and Telltale released the game on time (unlike the previous episode) so I call that a win.

Spoiler alert for those who dare to enter!

Show Review: 13 Reasons Why

13-reasons-why-soundtrack-cover There is one main reason why I didn’t post on Thursday apart from life itself. And it’s a small little show called 13 Reasons Why. The adaptation of the popular young adult book is raw, riveting and revealing. Ever since the trailer release, I was hyped. If you haven’t watched the show, watch it now. I guarantee this show will bring on major feels.

Game Review: The Walking Dead – A New Frontier – Episode Three

wdanf303logoskeyart-1490290752538_1280wAfter waiting for Above the Law to be released to Playstation Disc Players, I finally got to play the latest episode of The Walking Dead: A New Frontier over the weekend. Issues actually getting the episode to download aside, I think this episode further adds to the drama and tension between all the characters.

It’s definitely a big improvement from the previous episode but since (technically) more than half of the game is released, there are some small observations I’ve noticed in my playthrough.

Why Iron Fist Should’ve Been Asian

iron-fist-danny-rand-defendersThe debut of Marvel’s final defender was received with mixed reviews and considered the weakest of the Marvel Netflix series. Some attribute this to the poor reception of Finn Jones’ performance as the titular character which warranted its own controversy when the casting was first announced.

Even though the comic book character (correct me if I’m completely wrong) was Caucasian, Iron Fist could have been the chance for an Asian superhero. Instead, the casting of Finn Jones caused controversy over white-washing and cultural representation that I want to put to the side in this post as there are so many articles about the topic already.

So what I want to talk about is how casting Danny Rand with an Asian actor would have added to his character and made him a more interesting protagonist that we could actually root for.

Game Review: Final Fantasy XV – Episode Gladiolus

banner-episodegladiolusThe first of three DLC episodes of Final Fantasy XV was released just yesterday and of course, I had to play it straight away. Revolving around Gladiolus’ time apart from the group, we get the opportunity to play Gladio on his adventures and see his character develop just a little bit more.

Film Review: Beauty and the Beast

eu_batb_flex-hero_header_r_430eac8dI originally decided that I wouldn’t post a review of this film because I don’t think I could add much to the plentiful, more expert reviewers. However, I have another post in the works about these Disney live action adaptations and I decided to change my mind.

Personal reasons aside, Beauty and the Beast was a joy to watch: providing both nostalgia and something entirely new to all audiences.

Game Review: The Walking Dead – A New Frontier – Episode Two

twd_s3_coverSince the third episode will be released tomorrow, I continued my playthrough of The Walking Dead: A New Frontier with episode two – aptly titled “Ties That Binds Us – Part Two.” And boy wasn’t that one kicker of an episode.

Again, spoilers for those who haven’t finished the episode are ahead. So wander down at your own risk.
